Stolen Lupin - The Copycat is a Midsummer's Butterfly (盗まれたルパン ~コピーキャットは真夏の蝶~, Nusumareta Rupan -Kopīkyatto wa Manatsu no Chō-?) is the 16th Lupin the 3rd TV Special released on July 30, 2004. The treasures of the Bourbon dynasty are stolen by a mysterious woman. Inspector Zenigata, who does not suspect the culprit to be Lupin, follows the truck in high spirits, and just as he thinks Lupin appears out of the sky to stole back the treasure. But in this brief moment, Lupin is kidnapped by someone.

This OVA is presented in an odd fashion and in doing so, it can be quite confusing at times (or at least difficult to keep up with). That's because the anime isn't laid out in a traditional, chronological fashion. Instead, the story jumps all over the place, both in time and in place -- there are flash forwards, flash backs, flash side-ways, and flash-flash to leave the audience going, "huh?" Combine that with the myriad of Lupin's and frankly, things get quite messy at times.
